My Therapeutic Approach

Normalizing and validating clients’ experiences, while also collaboratively working with clients to help make values-based changes is a core component of the therapy. Moreover, my therapy approach is based on the following evidence-based therapies: Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT). I am completing my post-degree training, with a specialization in OCD, under Dr. Kimberly Glazier Leonte’s supervision and mentorship. I have also completed the International OCD Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Psychiatry Academy’s online OCD and Anxiety Training program.

My Education and Training

I am a license-eligible Licensed Mental Health Clinician (LMHC). My master’s level internship was completed at North Carolina State University’s counseling center, where I provided individual therapy, group therapy, couples counseling and triage counseling. I also previously worked as a counselor at Duke University’s Talent Identification Program and provided individual therapy for students who were predominately seeking therapy for anxiety, perfectionism, and/or interpersonal struggles. In Massachusetts, I worked at Cambridge Eating Disorder Clinic’s residential and outpatient settings.

I received my master’s in clinical mental health counseling from North Carolina Central University, and bachelors in psychology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. For a more in-depth look at my clinical experiences please refer to my curriculum vitae.

My Areas of Specialty

Through my post-degree training experience under Dr. Leonte’s supervision, I am becoming an OCD, anxiety and perfectionism specialist. I also have significant experience working with individuals who struggle with their relationship to their bodies and food. Having worked at Cambridge Eating Disorder Clinic’s residential facility, I am comfortable working with individuals at various stages in their recovery process.
