Shreedhar Paudel, MD, MPH
My Therapeutic Approach
I believe my clients are strong collaborating partners in their treatment planning and value shared decision making in our work together. Taking a comprehensive approach, as people are more than their presenting symptoms, is essential. Before prescribing any medication to my clients, I make sure I understand the person and the potential risk factors including known medical conditions contributing to current mental health concerns. Equally important to prescribing medications is the art of de-prescribing medications.

My Education and Training
I am a psychiatrist who specializes in community psychiatry. After completing my residency training in psychiatry at Berkshire Medical Center and a fellowship training in community and public psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), I joined the faculty at MGH and Harvard Medical School (HMS). Before starting my career in psychiatry, I completed my medical school in Nepal and Masters in Public Health from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York. In addition to private practice, I currently run a psychiatry consult and return clinic at MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center. To fulfill my social responsibility, I volunteer to direct global mental health projects in rural Nepal through my own non-profit and Global Psychiatry division at MGH and also dedicate time for scholarly activities. For a more in-depth look at my clinical experiences please refer to my curriculum vitae.
My Areas of Specialty
My clinical expertise revolves around innovative approaches to improving access to psychiatric care in primary care settings, global mental health, and schizophrenia spectrum conditions. Most of my clinical practice involves working with people with anxiety, OCD, PTSD, depression and/or schizophrenia spectrum conditions. I also lecture on schizophrenia, community psychiatry and global mental health in local, regional, national and international meetings regularly. In addition, I have been actively involved in reviewing manuscripts for many medical journals and publishing clinical articles.
