Caroline Ren, MS

Therapist

My Therapeutic Approach

I place a strong emphasis on getting to know each client as a unique individual with distinct world views and perspectives. My goal is to bring warmth and understanding, along with practical strategies and approaches to help guide each client’s holistic healing process. Throughout the therapeutic process, I encourage a regular exchange of ideas, thoughts, and questions.

The main theoretical approaches I utilize within the therapy sessions are Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

In addition, self-compassion principles are an important part of the three aforementioned therapies.

My Education and Training

I previously earned a Masters of Science Management degree, focused on Organizational Behavior & Design, from MIT Sloan School of Management. My experiences working in the education and consulting fields developed my understanding of the intersection of mental health within both the school and professional settings. Currently, I am pursuing my Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Merrimack College. My undergraduate degree was completed at Smith College. My prior experiences have included working with children/adolescence along with their parents and adults. I also have extensive work experience doing consulting work with business leaders and executives in the area of leadership development and team dynamics.

Due to my strong interest in working with individuals struggling with OCD, anxiety and perfectionism, I sought out working at Clearview Horizons. I am currently completing my LMHC practicum and internship clinical training at Clearview Horizons under the supervision and mentorship of Kimberly Leonte, PhD. In addition, I have completed the Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) School training program which is focused on how to effectively use exposure therapy when working with clients with OCD and other anxiety challenges. For a more in-depth look at my clinical experiences please refer to my curriculum vitae.

My Areas of Specialty

Clinical Mental Health Counseling

I work with a diverse range of clients from children and adolescence to adults, including parents. My clinical focus is on treating anxiety, including obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD), related to academic, corporate, home, and/or social settings. In addition, I have worked extensively with Asian, mixed race, and immigrant family cultures and take a multi-cultural approach to treatment, while incorporating a whole person methodology to well-being.

Business Coaching

My work in business coaching includes experience as a talent optimization specialist with a passion to effect change and drive high performance for corporate clients. By working directly with CEOs and key executives, I help build strategic alignment across the organization and drive necessary corporate cultural and organizational shifts using a proven methodology and change management approach.

Within both the therapy and corporate coaching fields, I have built a strong ability to connect quickly and deeply with clients and help clients build effective processes in order to achieve their specific values-based goals.
